I want to thank (David), The Fund and all your volunteers who helped our 24+ students with their essays, career choices and overall college advisement. Thanks to your support, these students all walked away this evening very confident about their personal statements, but more so, I believe they all walked away knowing that they have friends at the Fund that have and will continue to go out of their way to help and support them with their future endeavors. These short but meaningful contacts can make all the difference in the world to a student who gets no help every where s/he turns.
I want to mention again about (the) two students who came all the way from the Bronx, who were upset about their travel and timing and actually started out telling me they would never return. After spending close to 2 hours with Rob, they were so delighted that as they walked out of the center, they were saying, "this wasn't that bad, I may actually come back next week." Please tell Rob that we need to bottle his energy so I can share that with everybody. His charm, charisma and professionalism impressed these young ladies and it may have turned them around.
So again, on behalf of EXCEL, CAS and all or our students, THANK YOU!

After graduation, I plan on completing a post-baccalaureate program where I will finish the prerequisites for medical school. As I progress through college and plan for the future, I cannot neglect to mention the incredible impact the AMP Scholarship has had on my education. Not only have I been able to meet a wonderful family, but they have also given me the opportunity to return the favor to others by allowing me to become a permanent board member. The scholarship has shown me firsthand the importance of helping others, and by becoming a doctor and continuing to work with the Miller and Poritzky families, I will be able to ensure that Audrey's spirit of selfless service will live on.

As a child, my family instilled the idea that education is one of the most important factors in life...although there is no guarantee I will receive the Audrey Miller Poritzky scholarship, it is an honor to have received the opportunity to apply.

Thank you so much for the gift you gave me for the essay that I wrote for the Audrey Miller Poritzky Scholarship. In writing my essay it helped me to have a better understanding about what I wanted to do for the future and how it will benefit me in the long run. I plan to use the gift to help me with my college expenses. So thank you once again for assisting me with my future goals.

College has been pretty awesome so far! I am a freshman at Wake Forest University and currently interested in pre-med. The AMP scholarship has helped me pay for college expenses, including textbooks and meal plan. Thank you!

Your program had a profound effect on me! Not only did I enjoy volunteering with you, but I maintained my relationship with one of the students in the program. I mentored her through the college application and acceptance program, and we met up numerous times just to keep the relationship going.
Additionally, I went back to school to get my Master’s in Public Affairs as I was inspired by this program and others (I have 10 years work experience and hope I can make a difference at a nonprofit organization). I graduate in December and hope to move back to the East Coast and work in program management.
I started a college access program with children of Habitat for Humanity homeowners, based on your program! I talk to them about college and why/where to apply. Then I work with them to develop college essays and applications. The general idea is that the housing gets the parents out of poverty situations, so I am trying to help the next generation keep it going.
Thank you SO MUCH for letting me be part of your program. It had a huge effect on me!

I am in my third year at the University of Pittsburgh. I initially came into college to pursue the pre-pharmacy track but now I am looking forward to attending a graduate school for public health. The field deals with health disparities within communities and that is something I feel really passionate about. I am interested in the Behavorial and Community Health Sciences, and I particularly want to focus on health disparities within minority groups like Africans and African Americans. I also believe that a double major in Africana studies and Sociology would be really beneficial in achieving that goal.
The Audrey Miller Poritzky Scholarship really helped with financial costs dring my freshman year; without the scholarship, financing for that year would have been impossible. With that said, I am really grateful for being a part of the AMP Educational Fund. As of now, I am balancing academics, extracurricular activities, and a wonderful work study job. I work for a Pittsburgh based non-profit called Global Links. The organization donates excess medical supplies from hospitals and health care facilities to countries in Central and South America.
